Feeling Animated’s Fifth Anniversary

Hey there! Welcome, everyone, to Feeling Animated’s fifth anniversary! I want to start by thanking you all, however long you’ve been here and wherever you’re reading from – it means the world to know my fellow animation fans out there are enjoying my content, and I’m deeply grateful to all of you for reading.

Now, I can’t overlook the fact that my already slow posting schedule has somehow gotten even worse over the last year, for which I can only apologise. It wasn’t how I wanted it to go; looking back at my last anniversary post, I see my optimistic plan to launch Pixar season within a few months, and well… yeah. That didn’t quite work out. There have actually only been 17 articles since last time, with just two of them being film reviews – Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Enchanted. The rest have been mostly First Thoughts reviews (as I continued the series I’d begun back in 2020) and a whole lotta book reviews, which are the easiest posts to make when I’m pressed for time. I have the usual excuses – a rough summer at work, followed by increasing hours and a Comic Con in autumn, then the Christmas rush and, most recently, jury service – but a lot of it is just due to my own procrastination. I’m very sorry.

The good news (sort of) is that I didn’t get the third job I recently applied for, so I’ll be spared the 55-hour week I was facing. There shouldn’t be any other major changes coming up career-wise for a few months now, so I’m hoping I can find the energy to get back to my film reviews very soon – as always, the next one due is The Incredibles, for which I already have my notes ready. I’ll continue to post book reviews, of course, if nothing else, but I really am going to make an effort to return to films since that’s what the blog is supposed to be about.

I’m afraid there’s not much to discuss in terms of the past year’s articles, although I am quite proud of my Roger Rabbit review, which was a mammoth undertaking that beat the site record for longest post. If you’re new around here and would like to explore older posts from the days when I actually had time to write, please see my previous anniversary post for links to some of my favourites.

Again, my apologies that this isn’t as much of a celebration as usual; it’s just been such a rough year. Here’s to a more productive sixth year, filled with Pixar classics! Until next time, thank you so much for reading and staaay animated!
